Alert: December Travel Restrictions Lifted

Location:  Jordan

EventReports indicate the security situation in Jordan has normalized after recent protests. Restrictions imposed on U.S. government personnel travel starting December 15 have now been lifted. Some areas of Jordan continue to require U.S. government personnel to obtain permission before travel.  Those areas are detailed in the Country Specific Information, which can be found on Travel.State.gov or the U.S. Embassy website.

We also remind citizens to take additional precautions when driving at night and during adverse weather conditions, as many areas are susceptible to flash flooding and washouts.

Actions to Take:

  • Monitor weather and road conditions, particularly when light is low
  • Avoid large crowds and protests
  • Seek alternate routes around road closings
  • Be aware of your surroundings
  • Monitor local media
  • Contact the police by dialing 911 if you are in immediate danger
