Event: Voting from Jordan – Drop Off Your Ballot at U.S. Embassy Amman
The U.S. General Election will be held on November 3, 2020. All U.S. citizens over the age of 18 who are living abroad—including those who have never resided in the United States—may vote using absentee ballots.
U.S. Embassy Amman accepts in-person drop-off of absentee ballots Sunday through Wednesday from 9:00a.m. to 11:00a.m. on a walk-in basis. Please bring your completed ballot to the U.S. Embassy’s Consular section for drop-off service.
Please remember it can take up to four weeks for mail to reach its destination. Early voting is strong encouraged. The Embassy will deliver ballots dropped off at the American Citizens Service office to a U.S. Postal Service mail facility in the United States. All ballots not using a U.S. postage-paid, official voting envelope must have appropriate U.S. postage for domestic mail service. U.S. citizens also have the option to return ballots through international courier services, such as DHL and FedEx.
Voting deadlines vary from state to state, so be sure to check your state’s specific guidelines for ballot instructions and postmark deadlines. Note that some states do not accept ballots postmarked after Election Day.
As a reminder, U.S. citizens who do not receive an absentee ballot from their state in time to participate in the election can vote via an emergency backup ballot known as the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB). Please visit the UOCAVA website to learn more about the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act and how to make your vote count from abroad. Further information about voting from abroad can be found at the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) website.
Remember your vote counts.
