The U.S. Embassy in Amman, with the Cultural Heritage Center (“the Center”) in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State, is pleased to announce the start of the Cultural Property Agreement Implementation Grant (CPAIG) 2023 Grants Program.

 

CPAIG projects must directly support the implementation of the bilateral cultural property agreement between the United States and Jordan. This grant competition is organized through U.S. embassies in the 30 countries with which the United States has a signed cultural property agreement or where emergency import restrictions on archaeological and/or ethnological material are in effect under the Convention on Cultural Property Implementation Act (19 U.S.C. 2601 et seq), namely: Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Belize, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Greece, Guatemala, Honduras, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Libya, Mali, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Syria, Turkey, and Yemen.

The application process will proceed in two rounds. In Round 1, project ideas from applicants will be accepted in the form of concept notes (no particular template or format is required in round 1; please provide a detailed concept note and budget), due January 31, 2023, to AmmanAFCPgrants@state.gov. In Round 2, those with promising ideas will be asked to submit full project applications, due May 26, 2023,11:59 p.m. EST. Awards will range from $80,000 to $150,000.
