Passports

If you are overseas and your passport expired on or after January 1, 2020, you may be able to use your expired passport to return directly to the United States until December 31, 2021.  See this page for more information.

The Consular Section provides services to U.S. Citizens by appointment only Sunday through Thursday between 08:00 a.m and 10:00 a.m. The Consular Section is closed on U.S. and Jordanian holidays.

Passport/Consular Report of Birth Abroad pick-up is currently Sundays and Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. except for any Jordanian or U.S. official holidays. There is no need to schedule an appointment.

In order to provide the most efficient and accurate service possible, all passport applicants at the U.S. Embassy in Amman are required to fill out their passport applications online at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/requirements/forms.html. Please fill out the appropriate application using the FORM FILLERs, print the completed application with the barcode, and bring it to your appointment at the Embassy. Please note that the all applicants presenting hand-written applications will be asked to redo their applications, or schedule a new appointment.
