Instructions for a First-Time Adult Passport
This section applies to you if:
- You are over the age of 16 and applying for your first U.S. passport,
- Your previous U.S. passport was issued when you were under age 16,
- Your previous U.S. passport was issued more than 15 years ago,
- Your name has changed since your U.S. passport was issued and you are unable to legally document your name change with a marriage certificate or court order
Due to the worsening COVID-19 situation in Jordan, the U.S. Embassy’s Consular Section is suspending routine American Citizen Services (ACS) as of November 20. For those with immediate, emergency travel needs, the Consular Section will provide a one-year emergency passport that is printed on-site and delivered at the end of the appointment.
